Dr. Carmen Fong (she/her) is a double board-certified colorectal and general surgeon and Co-Medical Director of the Hemorrhoid Centers of America, affiliated with Northside/Wellstar Health Systems in Atlanta, GA. Previously she was an Assistant Professor in Surgery in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She is the author of Constipation Nation (forthcoming from Rowman & Littlefield, November 2024). Dr. Fong earned an MD from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed a general surgery residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Stony Brook University/NYU Winthrop. She has a certificate in Media and Medicine from Harvard Medical School. When she is not entertaining her two daughters under two or watching Bluey with her wife, in her spare time, she is Chair of the Outreach Subcommittee of the Young Surgeons Committee of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, a reviewer for Surgical Endoscopy, a medical advisor for Fight CRC! and Polari Group. She was an Op-Med Fellow for Doximity from 2022-2024. She writes about healthcare and medicine for Substack, KevinMD, and Baseline Med.
